Volvo Energizes NAIAS Crowd with XC60 Plug-In Hybrid Concept

Volvo is electrifying their consumer's future, starting with the all-new XC60 Plug-In Hybrid Concept, which just debuted at the North American International Auto Show (NAIA), in Detroit, MI.  Some might say Volvo is late to the hybrid game. Volvo of Lisle, however, argues that this is one example of where slow and steady wins the race. For, while the Volvo CX60 Plug-In Hybrid SUV might not be the first to hit the market, it clearly out-delivers its competitors.

The proof? With 350-hp, the Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid jets from zero to sixty miles per hour in a mere 5.8 seconds, can travel up to 35 miles per hour in pure electric mode - perfect for city driving, delivers over 100 mpg, and drives up to 600 miles on a single tank. Simply stated, there isn't another vehicle out there that's on par with the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid in terms of power, fuel economy and electric range.

Speaking on the new Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid Concept, Stefan Jacoby, President& CEO, Volvo, says, "The beauty of this plug-in hybrid technology is that you can keep all the power and capacity of your present car, combined with up to 35 miles all-electric range. Or you can drive it as a super efficient hybrid with fuel economy of over 100 miles per gallon according to the European driving cycle."1 In three words, the Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid is all about  adaptability, luxe efficiency, and, of course, safety.

When will the Volvo XC60 Plug-In Hybrid arrive to Volvo dealers in Lisle? To be honest, not anytime soon. A diesel variant of the Concept is expected to arrive in European markets later this year.  Drivers in the U.S., however, likely won't see a plug-in hybrid from Volvo until around 2015. And, there's no guarantee it will be the XC60 Plug-In, either. Like most good things, however, it is sure to be worth the wait.
